Baltimore County is an interconnected region with a high quality of life, low cost of living and a diverse and growing economy, exemplified by its triple AAA bond rating.

Baltimore County is situated in the geographic center of Maryland, surrounding the city of Baltimore almost entirely. The county is the largest jurisdiction in the metropolitan area, with a populatrion of nearly 800,000. Baltimore County does not include the city of Baltimore, which was split off as an independent city in 1851. There are no incorporated towns, villages, municipalities or other political subdivisions in the county. Its county seat is Towson.
