Baltimore County is an interconnected
region with a high quality of life, low cost of living and a

Baltimore County is situated in the geographic center of Maryland, surrounding the
city of Baltimore almost entirely. The county is the largest jurisdiction in
the metropolitan area, with a populatrion of nearly 800,000. Baltimore County does not
include the city of Baltimore, which was split off as an independent city in 1851. There
are no incorporated towns, villages, municipalities or other political subdivisions
in the county. Its county seat is Towson.
Living and working in Baltimore County offers a comfortable blend of historic neighborhoods,
suburban communities and rural landscapes, all at a cost of living below the
national average. The county boasts a superb education system, including 22 nearby
colleges and universities, an abundance of cultural activities, fine dining
